While other images have Flickr names, mine gets a note that says “Google: Listen” (Listen being the title of the image). Are they trying to say that they found it via Google Image search, and therefore they don’t need to give attribution? That’s shady.

Hopefully they’ll notice and fix this shortly. And while they’re at it, maybe they can fix the text that says KZSC is “funded by the FCC”. Come on HuffPo, seriously? A radio station funded by the FCC? That doesn’t even make sense!

Here’s a grab of the article and photo on 10/26/10:

My image on Flickr, taken in 2007 at KZSC:

Update: I got in touch of the College Editor and she cleared things up. Apparently their new image scraper has some issues they’re working out.

Sadly, the DJ cut the song off after about 40 seconds, but I suppose we can forgive him for that. It’s not like we don’t know how the song goes…

Here’s the shot from the kzsc.org homepage:

So, in an effort to replace the zope/plone craziness of kzsc.org, I’ve been looking into CMS alternatives. I know – exciting, right? It’s been a whole lot of uploading files, changing permissions and using the wonderful new tabbed terminal in Leopard. I’ve set up a few on this site so far, with only one looking like a real option. If anyone’s had any experience with any of these – let me know!

wordpress (duh) – too blog based, but on the other hand, good for multiple blogs (μ – mu edition)

drupral – also blog based

expression engine – not very user friendly and a hell of a time to change skins

joomla – the best for not-blogs so far and very easily skinnable

plone – an actual up-to-date version that makes life better

So maybe joomla for kzsc.org – it’s a whole lot easier than plone, that’s for sure. But for this blog? WordPress all the way.

On another note – anyone have any strong opinions on the Academy of Art? Specifically the School of Computer Arts: New Media? Because that’s looking like a nice place to head next.

While this is probably the #1 blog post today in the blogosphere, I thought I’d pitch in as well. At about 10:30pm PST yesterday, I received an email I had been hoping to get for quite some time. (er, 10 days..) w.a.s.t.e sent me a download link, and within a few minutes I was listening to the new radiohead album, In Rainbows. With that said, before I say more, go download it. Pay whatever you want, and go download it.

Once you do though, go listen to it on the radio tonight at 8:30pm on KZSC Santa Cruz 88.1fm. Or online – kzsc.org. Kristan’s new show, aptly named In Rainbows, will be premiering tonight, playing what else – the new album. Some older live tracks too, just to fill up the time. Maybe I’ll put up a review later, but there’s enough of those going around for everybody. Go have a listen.

I haven’t posted much in quite some time as things have been slightly hectic for the most part. traveling to see family, growing a year older, working on the house, and starting classes again. the class part is interesting. finishing up my lower division art requirements, starting more advanced digital media, and working with the film minor, which looks like this:

HAVC 10E – Africa, Oceana, and the Americas

Art 118 – Computer Art Theory

Film 20P – Film Production

it’s a good amount of geekery, and on average a decent class size. problem is three sections, which is three too many. on a good note, exciting things are happening at KZSC, however, as winter quarter starts. bend to squares will stay at the same time, but I get to make a new program guide. so, the first to see it, here it is:

maybe I can get some feedback, and also the past three years of covers can be seen here.
