for my electronic intermedia class, i’m making a fairly unique bottled floor lamp of sorts, and the plan was to make it sound activated. it actually even worked earlier today, we were stomping around, messing with different musical instruments, and being provided with a strange light show courtesy of my lamp. then of course, things went sour. some wires that don’t get along brushed by each other on a crowded streetcorner and, as always when that happens, a freaking big capacitor decided to end its life. lame. so yes, the picture below is of the aftermath. I spent this evening trying to mend things, but the whole thing just refuses to work. thus, no dance-party noise-making light show. regardless, open studios are on friday. you should all come.

update:

although the sound activation never worked, the lamp was completed and now stands in the corner of my room. here’s a picture.
